A series of unfortunate events unfolded in the San Fernando Valley when a 13-year-old boy crashed a stolen car into a Los Angeles Police Department motorcycle officer and another vehicle. The boy now faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
The incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on Thursday when the motorcycle officer was alerted about a stolen vehicle. Upon locating the car, the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop. However, the driver of the stolen vehicle did not yield, leading to a short pursuit that ended when the stolen car hit the officer’s motorcycle and another uninvolved motorist.
The boy driving the stolen car and a 15-year-old girl who was a passenger were both taken into custody. While the girl was later released, the boy has been booked into juvenile hall. Due to his age, his identity has not been disclosed.
Following the crash, the motorcycle officer and the motorist who was hit by the stolen vehicle were taken to a hospital and subsequently released.
The incident highlights the significant and often unexpected dangers law enforcement officers face on duty. It also serves as a stark reminder of the seriousness and potential consequences of youth crime.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
