Two California Cities Among Worst for Drivers, Two Among Best: Study

According to a study by ConsumerAffairs that analyzed crash data from the U.S. Department of Transportation, two cities in California were among those with the worst drivers, while two others were among those with the best.

The study ranked cities based on the number of crash fatalities per 100,000 people, the number of fatalities due to bad driving, positive blood alcohol content, and speeding incidents. Specifically, bad driving included behaviors such as driving the wrong way, failing to yield, aggressive driving, improper turns, improper lane changing, and passing where prohibited.

Victorville and Hesperia were among the top ten cities with the worst drivers. These California cities shared the list with places like Memphis, Tennessee, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

On a positive note, Oxnard and Glendale in California were among the top ten cities with the safest drivers, sharing the honor with cities like Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Cary, North Carolina.

This study, which only included cities with populations of 100,000 or more, underscores the importance of safe driving habits and the potential life-saving effects of maintaining such habits on the road. It also speaks to the power of local infrastructure and law enforcement efforts in promoting road safety.
