An all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crashed into a power pole on Saturday night in Cloverdale, California, resulting in one fatality and another person being injured.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on River Road near Highland Ranch Road. The preliminary investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) suggests that the ATV was traveling west on a gravel road with two occupants when the crash happened.
Attempting to turn and pass through a gate at a high speed, the ATV collided with a wire fence and a power pole. The impact ejected both the driver and the passenger from the vehicle. Tragically, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger sustained minor injuries. Neither person was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office. CHP Santa Rosa is encouraging anyone with additional information about the accident to get in touch at 707-588-1400. This regrettable incident illustrates the importance of safety precautions, such as wearing helmets and controlling speed, especially when operating potentially dangerous vehicles like ATVs.
