Angelina Wiley from Kansas City, Missouri, shared an extraordinary story of survival on TikTok, crediting Kim Kardashian’s Skims shapewear for saving her life.
“Kim Kardashian saved my life,” Wiley stated in her video. She explained that she was wearing a Skims shaping bodysuit under her dress on New Year’s Eve when she was shot four times. According to Wiley, the tight fit of the bodysuit helped slow her bleeding, potentially saving her life.
“It was so tight on me that it kept me from bleeding out,” she said. Wiley humorously suggested that the bodysuit could serve as “body armor for women.”
Wiley’s story caught the attention of Kim Kardashian herself, who reposted the story on her Instagram stories, commenting with a praying hands emoji.
Dr. Richard Doyle, an emergency medicine physician, confirmed to Forbes that it’s “feasible” a tight-fitting bodysuit could provide compression and buy time for a victim to receive treatment.
However, the incident left Wiley with severe injuries, including a ruptured bladder, a cracked pelvis, and a bullet still lodged in her abdomen. She has been in recovery for several months, undergoing physical therapy and mental health treatment.
Despite the challenges, Wiley remains optimistic as she continues her recovery journey and has found an unexpected silver lining in her Skims shapewear. Her story serves as a reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of everyday items in extraordinary circumstances.
