Tesla is recalling nearly 16,000 of its 2021-2023 Model S and Model X vehicles due to potential issues with some front-row seat belts. According to the company’s safety recall report, a first-row seat belt may not have been properly reconnected to its pretensioner anchor after being repaired. This could impact the seat belt’s performance in a collision and increase the risk of injury.
Tesla also announced a recall for more than 1,300 of its 2023 Model S, Model X, and Model Y vehicles due to a misalignment issue with the pitch angle of the forward-facing cameras. This misalignment could render certain active safety features, including automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane keeping assist, unavailable without alerting the driver, thereby increasing the risk of a collision.
Notification letters will be sent to owners of the affected vehicles. Tesla has promised to perform free inspections and necessary rectifications for both recalls. These incidents highlight the importance of vehicle safety and the need for continuous quality checks to ensure the wellbeing of drivers and passengers on the road.
