Burbank Police Chase and Arrest

Teens Arrested After Crashing Stolen Vehicle into Police Car in Burbank

A high-speed chase in Burbank resulted in two teenagers being arrested on Wednesday evening, after allegedly crashing a stolen vehicle into a police car at the Burbank Town Center’s west garage.

The incident, which unfolded around 9:20 p.m., began when witnesses reported a reckless driver, providing a description of the vehicle, driver, and license plate number. Burbank police officers located the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the driver fled, crashing into a responding patrol car on their way out of the parking garage.

The officer in the patrol car sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was later released from the hospital. Despite the collision, the driver continued to evade police, committing several traffic violations and reaching high speeds throughout Burbank.

The chase eventually ended on the 5 Freeway at Empire Avenue when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The driver and passenger, identified as a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy from Bakersfield, were taken into custody and booked on suspicion of multiple felonies. The vehicle was later confirmed to be stolen from Bakersfield.

This incident is a stark reminder of the dangerous risks associated with vehicle theft and reckless driving, and the importance of law enforcement in ensuring public safety.
