Traffic was at a standstill on the eastbound lanes of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge on a Friday afternoon due to police activity, leaving many drivers stranded for at least two hours. However, some of these stranded travelers found unique ways to pass the time.
One man decided to take advantage of the situation by playing tennis on the bridge. A video sent in by a KRON4 viewer showed the man playing tennis in the far-right lane of the bridge, with the San Francisco Bay visible in the background. The sight of a tennis match unfolding amidst the sea of stalled cars on the bridge made for a rather surreal scene.
Another family, instead of waiting idly in their vehicle, took their child out and put them in a stroller. The viewer told KRON4 that the child was pushed around among the unmoving vehicles, adding a touch of levity to the unexpected delay.
As of 3:30 p.m., all eastbound lanes on I-580 at the bridge remained closed. Despite the inconvenience, the spontaneous tennis game and strolling child offered a light-hearted distraction from the traffic woes.
