Rapper Quavo, known in real life as Quavious Keyate Marshall, was among a group on a rented yacht in Miami where a strong-arm robbery allegedly occurred on Sunday night. The incident was reported to the Miami Beach Police Department shortly before 9 p.m.
According to police reports, two men, Cornell Whitfield from Texas, and Anteneh Workeneh from Georgia, became aggressive towards the boat’s captain and crew when informed that their rental time was ending and the boat needed to be returned. The two men demanded a refund, with Whitfield allegedly threatening to kill the captain and a crew member if the money wasn’t returned. Whitfield is also accused of forcibly removing the captain’s wallet, which contained around $3,500, and his phone.
The owner of the boat contacted law enforcement after being informed of the incident. Although people were detained for questioning, no arrests have been made due to conflicting statements and circumstances.
Quavo was a member of the Grammy-nominated rap group Migos, which had several Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. His nephew and fellow Migos member, Takeoff, was tragically shot and killed outside a Houston bowling alley last year. Quavo announced the end of the group months after Takeoff’s death.
As personal injury bloggers, we often discuss how such incidents shed light on the importance of personal safety and the necessity for thorough investigations into alleged incidents. The situation also serves as a reminder of the need for clear contractual agreements when providing rental services. We hope that a just resolution is achieved swiftly in this unfortunate incident.
