Dodgers Reacquire Joe Kelly, Trade Looms

The Los Angeles Dodgers, currently leading the NL West, have announced a trade with the Chicago White Sox, acquiring Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly. In exchange, the Dodgers will send outfielder Trayce Thompson, pitcher Nick Nastrini and reliever Jordan Leasure to the White Sox.

Lynn, a 36-year-old right-hander, currently holds a 6-9 record with a 6.18 ERA. Although his current season’s performance has been underwhelming, Lynn has collected 139 strikeouts in 115 innings, averaging 10.9 per nine innings. In June, he set a major-league record for the highest number of strikeouts in a game by a pitcher with an ERA above 6.00, with 16 strikeouts against Seattle.

Joe Kelly, returning to the Dodgers for his second stint, recently came back from the injured list due to elbow inflammation. He was part of the Dodgers team from 2019-21 and contributed to their World Series win in the 2020 season. This trade indicates the Dodgers’ continued focus on strengthening their pitching lineup, showcasing their commitment to maintaining an edge in their performances.
