Cyclist Fatally Struck by Truck in Rohnert Park

A cyclist, identified as a 51-year-old Santa Rosa resident, was tragically killed after being struck by a pick-up truck in Rohnert Park on Friday. The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety (RPDPS) responded to the scene on the 5700 block of Commerce Boulevard around 12:40 p.m., where they found the cyclist with life-threatening injuries.

According to the RPDPS, a Ram 1500 was exiting a parking lot and turning into the northbound lane of Commerce Boulevard when it collided with the cyclist who was heading south. The cyclist later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene after the crash, and it is currently believed that drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the incident. The police are continuing to investigate this fatal collision. This tragic incident emphasizes the need for both drivers and cyclists to exercise caution on the roads.
