Fatal Collision on Hwy-280 in Los Altos Hills

A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred early Saturday morning on Interstate Highway 280 near the El Monte Road off-ramp in Santa Clara County. The collision, which led to the temporary closure of all southbound lanes, resulted in at least one death.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident was first reported at 1:13 a.m. The two vehicles involved, both sedans, collided head-on. By 1:23 a.m., the state agency confirmed that all southbound lanes of I-280 near El Monte Road were closed, and a Sig-alert was issued.

The lanes were reopened just before 6 a.m. after the crash site was cleared. This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers on the road, emphasizing the importance of safe driving practices and reminding drivers to stay alert, especially during late-night or early morning hours when visibility can be reduced.
