Taylor Swift Fans Break VTA Ridership Record

Taylor Swift fans, known as Swifties, broke records for public transportation ridership in Santa Clara. According to the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), an estimated 25,000 people boarded their trains after Swift’s concert, marking a new high for the transit agency.

The pop star’s first Bay Area tour stop was held at Levi’s Stadium, which can accommodate over 65,000 attendees. Given the large seating capacity and the fact that tickets for Swift’s shows had been sold out for months, the record-breaking number of VTA riders is perhaps not surprising.

A photo shared by the VTA shows a sea of Swifties exiting the concert venue. It remains to be seen if concertgoers attending the second night of the tour stop will manage to surpass this record. This incident underscores the impact of large-scale events like concerts on local transport systems and the role of efficient public transportation in managing such influxes.
