In a heartbreaking incident, a man and his family dog died in a fire at a duplex in San Pablo. Armando Cabrera and his dog, Seymour, were living with his siblings on Dover Avenue when a fire broke out in the residence.
First responders arrived at the scene to find Cabrera unresponsive. He was subsequently declared dead at the scene, and Seymour also perished in the fire.
The Cabrera family expressed their grief and shared, “He leaves behind a great void in our hearts and sadness. He lived with us, his siblings and we lost it all.” In the aftermath, the family has started a fundraiser for Cabrera’s burial services, which has so far raised over $4,000 since it began on Sunday.
Incidents like this underscore the tragic and unforeseen dangers of residential fires. They remind us of the importance of fire prevention measures, regular safety checks, and the need for effective emergency response systems in our communities.
