A Concord father of four, Bill Siu, tragically drowned in Lake Tahoe on Friday afternoon. His family is now raising funds to cover the costs of emergency medical care during his rescue attempt and his burial.
Siu was a beloved husband and father, and he worked as a coach at P2P Transformation Center in Concord. According to his family, Siu had a passion for fitness, and he used this passion to help hundreds of people on their journeys toward improved health.
The incident occurred around 4:10 p.m. on the east short of Lake Tahoe. Responding authorities from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District, the United States Coast Guard, and Sand Harbor lifeguards found Siu unresponsive in the water. He was transported to a local hospital in Sand Harbor, where he was declared dead. Siu’s death is currently under investigation as an accidental drowning.
Amid the heartbreaking loss, the family has turned to the community for support through a GoFundMe page. So far, more than $25,000 has been raised, but the family is still working towards their goal.
This tragic incident underscores the need for safety measures and awareness while engaging in water-based activities. As the community pulls together to support Siu’s family during this difficult time, it serves as a reminder of the importance of community support during personal tragedies.
