In San Francisco, a suspect who allegedly pushed an elderly woman onto the ground without provocation has been arrested and charged with attempted homicide, according to the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD). Officers responded to a reported assault on the 1000 block of Franklin Street on July 27 at around 2:20 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers interacted with the victim, an 81-year-old woman, who reported being shoved off the sidewalk by an unknown suspect the previous day at around 5 p.m. near Franklin and Myrtle streets. The force of the push knocked her into a lane of traffic, causing her to hit her head on the roadway. The woman subsequently sought medical treatment for her injuries.
Investigators from the SFPD General Work Detail obtained surveillance footage of the incident, and images of the suspect were distributed throughout the department to aid in the identification and apprehension process.
On July 29, officers responded to a call concerning an individual carrying an edged weapon. The person was detained, and one officer recognized him as the suspect from the assault incident. He was identified as 21-year-old Curtis Dubbels and subsequently arrested.
Dubbels was taken to SF County Jail and charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault with force to produce great bodily injury, elder abuse, elder abuse enhancement, and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
The investigation into the incident remains active, as per the SFPD.
