Fatal Stabbing and Shooting on Metro Train in Hawthorne

In a tragic incident on Wednesday evening, a man was fatally stabbed on a Metro Green Line train in Hawthorne. However, before his demise, he managed to shoot his alleged assailant in the chest.

Deputies found the unidentified victim, believed to be in his early to mid-20s, suffering from apparent stab wounds to the upper torso on a train at the Crenshaw Station around 7:20 p.m. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The Crenshaw Station, located at 11902 S. Crenshaw Blvd., is one of the suggested public transit routes for Taylor Swift’s upcoming concerts at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.

The alleged assailant, a man in his mid to late 30s, was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds to the upper torso.

Officials have described the deadly incident as originating from a “physical altercation”. They noted that, as the suspect began to stab the victim, the latter produced a handgun.

There are no additional suspects sought in this case, and the investigation is ongoing.

This incident underscores the potential dangers that can escalate rapidly on public transit, and the need for vigilance and effective security measures to ensure passenger safety.
