Torrance hit-and-run, video footage, man injured

Terrifying Moment Captured on Video as Car Rams Man in Torrance

In a terrifying incident caught on video, a Torrance man was violently hit by a driver in broad daylight. The victim, Ken Teshima, a 66-year-old grandfather, has released the video in hopes of helping authorities locate and arrest the perpetrator.

The incident took place on July 30, around noon, in an office complex parking lot in Torrance. The video shows a grey sedan speeding straight into Teshima, knocking him onto the sidewalk.

Teshima said, “He was out to kill me. He hit me so hard, as fast as his car could go.” The impact sent Teshima flying, and he hit his head on the concrete. He believes the suspect intended to cause severe harm and possibly even death.

The brutal assault resulted in a cracked skull and internal bleeding in the torso for Teshima, who was hospitalized in the intensive care unit.

Prior to the attack, Teshima had allowed the suspect, who claimed to be homeless but worked nearby, to sleep in his car in the office lot. However, when the suspect began defecating on the ground and causing trouble, Teshima asked him to leave. The suspect reacted violently, starting a fistfight that Teshima refused to engage in.

Believing the situation had de-escalated, Teshima was crossing the parking lot when he was hit by the suspect’s car. Despite the severe injuries, Teshima remains thankful for his survival and credits his quick reaction to his extensive martial arts training.

Torrance police have filed a report for assault with a deadly weapon and hit-and-run, but no further information was available. Teshima provided a picture of the suspect and his vehicle, urging anyone with information on the case to contact the Torrance Police Department.
