Antioch Sideshow Triggers Multiple Crashes

A chaotic sideshow in Antioch led to a string of accidents, resulting in a car in the San Joaquin River and another colliding with a fire hydrant, according to the Antioch Police Department (APD). The incidents occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, around the Marina and Smith’s Landing parking lot.

One of the vehicles involved in the sideshow crashed into a fire hydrant, shearing it and damaging the water main beneath. Meanwhile, another car ended up submerged in the nearby river.

Following the incidents, APD called the Contra Costa County Fire to the scene, prompting the crowd to disperse. Medical crews treated two men and one woman for injuries at the scene before transporting them to a local hospital. Footage from the site displayed several wrecked vehicles and injured individuals receiving treatment.

Another crash occurred at the intersection of 10th and G streets, where a suspect caused an accident before attempting to flee. However, authorities apprehended him, and two other citizens were injured in this crash.

On Sunday morning, authorities retrieved the vehicle submerged in the San Joaquin River. Public safety necessitates safer driving practices and responsible behavior, and this incident serves as a stern reminder of the potential dangers and legal consequences of reckless actions such as participating in a sideshow.
