The community of Oakland has come together to honor the life of native and actor Angus Cloud, who tragically passed away last week. A significant memorial has been established on a building at the corner of East 19th Street and Park Avenue, featuring a large mural of a smiling Cloud and his name painted in bold letters.
The mural, painted by Darin Balaban alongside Cloud’s friends Kalani, Maggie, Grame, Sacred Lands, m27, and others, has drawn significant attention from the public. Videos of the mural’s creation have been shared on social media, with numerous posts showing the large amounts of flowers and candles placed beside it in tribute to Cloud.
On visiting the mural, Connor Steinbeck said, “I just wanted to share so everyone could appreciate this beautiful mural for a beautiful soul. He was so loved.” Steinbeck added that the mural feels extraordinarily special.
Lisa Cloud, Angus’s mother, issued a statement confirming that her son’s death was not a suicide and that his final day was filled with joy.
Fellow Oakland celebrities, including singer Kehlani, have also expressed their affection for Cloud. Kehlani shared a photo with Cloud on Instagram, writing, “The real person was more complex and more solid than a tv character. That person deserves to be remembered in totality… Love you brudda.”
The growing memorial serves as a testament to the impact Cloud had on the community and the entertainment industry, and how deeply his loss is felt.
