Antioch Sideshow Leads to Major Injury and Arrest

A woman is in critical condition following a vehicle crash related to an alleged sideshow participant in Antioch early Sunday morning. The incident unfolded around 2:51 a.m. when police received multiple reports of a sideshow developing at the Antioch Marina Harbor and Smith’s Landing parking lots.

Officers were setting up to disperse the sideshow when a vehicle fled the scene at high speed with its lights off. An officer initially pursued but called off the chase upon noticing the vehicle’s hood blocking the windshield.

The fleeing vehicle crashed into another car at West Ninth and G Street, severely injuring an unsuspecting Antioch woman in her 50s and damaging a city water hydrant. The victim was transported to the hospital in a critical condition.

The 21-year-old male driver fled the crash on foot but was apprehended by police following a short chase. He was arrested on suspicion of felony reckless driving and felony hit and run. Interestingly, he had an outstanding no-bail warrant from Santa Clara County for sideshow activity.

Meanwhile, the sideshow at the marina continued until a vehicle spun into the water and another collided with a water hydrant and a water main at the Smith’s Landing parking lot. Both drivers fled the scene before police could arrive.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with reckless driving and illegal sideshow activities, which pose a serious threat to public safety.
