In Petaluma on Monday night, a 70-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after being involved in a traffic collision. The suspect, identified as Douglas Green, was driving in the westbound lane of Petaluma Boulevard North before turning right onto Stony Point Road.
According to the Petaluma Police Department, Green allegedly made a wide turn, crossing into the southbound lanes of Stony Point Road. This resulted in a head-on collision with another driver. The other driver was injured in the collision and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police officers at the scene noted signs of intoxication from Green. Further investigation revealed that Green’s driver’s license had been suspended as a result of a prior DUI. He was subsequently booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on suspicion of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.
