A man from Reseda was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning following a series of fires in Burbank that are believed to have been intentionally set.
Burbank Police and Fire Department personnel responded to 11 separate reports of a person setting fires in dumpsters, bushes, and trash heaps across the city. The fires, which were primarily concentrated in the southwest portion of the city, began around 10:40 p.m. on Monday night.
Thankfully, each fire was promptly extinguished before it could spread to nearby structures, and no injuries were reported. Police obtained security footage as part of their investigation, which showed the suspect and his vehicle.
At approximately 1:40 a.m. on Tuesday, authorities were called to a 12th fire located behind a Starbucks on the 300 block of N. Pass Avenue. A man matching the description of the suspect was located and arrested inside a nearby Vons store. The suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Tigran Gazdhyan of Reseda.
Gazdhyan was booked into jail and is expected to face multiple felony arson charges when he appears in court on Thursday. He is currently being held without bail due to a probation violation.
The investigation is ongoing, with police suggesting that Gazdhyan may be connected to other similar suspicious fires in the Toluca Lake area. Anyone with information about these fires is urged to contact Burbank police.
