Helping Maui Wildfire Victims: How to Donate

In response to the catastrophic wildfires that have devastated Maui, a donation initiative has been launched to aid those affected by the disaster. KHON2, in partnership with the American Red Cross, has set up a dedicated Maui wildfire donation page where individuals can directly contribute towards relief efforts.

In addition to this, KHON2 is hosting a Malama Maui telethon in collaboration with the American Red Cross. The telethon, scheduled for Monday, August 14 from 5 to 10 a.m. HST (11 a.m. – 4 p.m. EST), will be live-streamed on the KHON2 website.

The Maui wildfires have caused significant damage, destroying numerous homes and communities. The disaster is considered the state’s deadliest since a 1960 tsunami that claimed 61 lives. The aftermath is reminiscent of the 2018 Camp Fire in California, which resulted in at least 85 fatalities and left the town of Paradise in ruins.

Donations made via the KHON2 and American Red Cross initiative will be directed towards supporting the victims of this disaster and aiding in recovery efforts. The initiative provides an opportunity for everyone to contribute towards helping those in need during these challenging times.
