A three-vehicle collision in Ventura County on Friday night resulted in one fatality and five injuries. California Highway Patrol responded to the incident on SR-1, south of Las Posas Road, around 4:35 p.m.
The victim who lost his life was the driver of a white 2022 BMW. The victims who sustained injuries included a 34-year-old man and a 33-year-old man in a 2012 Ford truck, and a 30-year-old man, a 28-year-old woman, and a 23-year-old woman in a 2019 Honda. All the injured victims were confirmed to be residents of Oxnard.
At the time of the incident, the Ford truck was traveling northbound, while the BMW and the Honda were moving southbound. For reasons not yet established, the BMW crossed into the northbound lanes, leading to a head-on collision with the truck. The impact forced the truck into the southbound lanes, resulting in the Honda crashing into it.
Upon arrival at the scene, authorities pronounced the BMW driver dead. Among the injured, the Ford truck driver suffered from lacerations and the two passengers in the Honda sustained seatbelt abrasions.
Investigations are ongoing to determine what caused the BMW driver to swerve into the opposite lanes, and whether alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor to the fatal accident. This tragic incident underscores the importance of vigilant and responsible driving to ensure safety on the roads.
