A reward of $50,000 is being offered for information pertaining to a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred in Arleta over the weekend, resulting in the death of a bicyclist.
The incident took place around 10:50 p.m. on August 12, when a black Infiniti Q50, heading west on Van Nuys Boulevard, collided with a bicyclist who was also heading in the same direction. According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the driver fled the scene without stopping to identify themselves or assist the bicyclist, who sustained fatal injuries in the collision.
The Infiniti was last seen heading south on Canterbury Avenue from Van Nuys Boulevard, leaving debris on the roadway. The driver has been described as a man between 23 and 24 years old, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, and weighing around 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red and black baseball cap and a gray tank top, and has a tattoo of a “P” on his right forearm.
LAPD has not elaborated on how they obtained such a detailed description of the suspect. They urge anyone with information about the crash to call 818-644-8036. The hope is that the reward will bring forward witnesses or information that can lead to the apprehension and conviction of the driver responsible for this tragic incident.
