Sam Asghari, the soon-to-be former husband of Britney Spears, has spoken out about their divorce in a statement issued via his Instagram stories. Reports suggest that Asghari was the one who filed for divorce.
“After six years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together,” the fitness model wrote. “We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. S–t happens.”
In the message, Asghari asked not for privacy, which he acknowledged would seem ridiculous, but for everyone, including the media, to demonstrate kindness and thoughtfulness.
According to sources with direct knowledge of the prenuptial agreement shared with TMZ, Asghari will not receive a payout in the divorce. He will be able to keep gifts from Spears and his cars.
Asghari and Spears, who met on the set of her 2016 music video for “Slumber Party,” were married in June 2022 at Spears’ Thousand Oaks estate, under a prenuptial agreement.
Spears had a notably shorter marriage in 2004 when she wed childhood friend, Jason Alexander, in Las Vegas. That marriage lasted 55 hours. Later in 2004, Spears married backup dancer Kevin Federline, with whom she has two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James. The couple divorced in 2007.
