On Tuesday, an armed robbery at a gas station in Lafayette led to a police pursuit and the subsequent arrest of the suspect. According to the Lafayette Police Department, officers responded to the robbery report and were pointed towards the suspect’s car by gas station employees.
When an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the suspect refused to pull over, instigating a chase. The suspect ultimately crashed the vehicle into a drainage channel on a dead-end residential street, as he attempted to escape. However, police officers managed to detain him before he could flee the crash site.
Investigations revealed that the suspect’s vehicle had been stolen during a separate armed robbery in a neighboring state. The suspect was arrested and charged with several offenses, including armed robbery and fleeing from the police. He has been detained at the Martinez Detention Facility.
