Second Suspect Arrested in Connection with Thousand Palms Robbery

A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a robbery that took place in July in Thousand Palms. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident happened on July 29, near Ramon Road and Thousand Palms Canyon Road.

According initial investigations, authorities revealed that the victim was contacted by a woman at a business on the 32200 block of Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage, and was subsequently lured into a vehicle in the parking lot. Two additional suspects were in the vehicle, and the victim was driven to the area of the robbery, where the driver brandished a weapon and demanded the victim’s belongings.

The suspects were described as a white or light-skinned Hispanic male with many tattoos, a Hispanic female in her 30s, and a white female in her 40s.

Deputies located the driver, identified as 31-year-old Nicholas Tyler Young of Palm Springs, and arrested him on August 2 during a traffic stop in Cathedral City. He was booked for parole violation, robbery, and conspiracy.

Further investigation led to the identification and arrest of the second suspect, 33-year-old Lucero Cagno of Indio, believed to be one of the women who lured the victim. Cagno was arrested in Coachella on Wednesday and booked on charges of robbery, conspiracy, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, and possession of an expandable baton.

The status of the third suspect in the case remains unknown.
