Suspect Sought in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Sonoma County

Sonoma County authorities are actively searching for the driver of a Toyota Highlander suspected of being involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident on River Road outside Windsor, according to a statement by the California Highway Patrol on Monday.

The incident was reported at approximately 7:29 a.m. on Monday, when officers were alerted to a collision involving a Toyota Highlander and an 18-year-old pedestrian in the Forestville area, just west of Windsor. Tragically, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

However, by 7:34 a.m., it was reported that the vehicle suspected of causing the accident had fled the scene. Police in Santa Rosa and Windsor have been informed of the situation and are currently on the lookout for the suspect.

In the wake of such a tragedy, it’s important to remember the serious consequences that can result from leaving the scene of an accident, especially one involving injuries or fatalities. Not only is it illegal, but it can also significantly compound the trauma and distress experienced by victims and their families. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time.
