Girl, 13, Sues McDonald’s After Brutal Attack
In a horrifying incident that took place at a McDonald’s in Harbor City, Los Angeles, a 13-year-old girl was viciously beaten by a woman while witnesses and McDonald’s staff looked on. The victim’s mother has filed a lawsuit against both the attacker and the restaurant, seeking justice for her daughter’s traumatic experience.
The incident, which occurred on September 6, was captured on video. The footage shows Ariana Lauifi, 32, punching and kicking the young girl, identified as Kassidy Jones, near the order counter. The attack only ended when a man, accompanying the attacker, pulled her away. Kassidy was left bloodied and with bruises on her face. According to the family’s attorney, Toni Jaramilla, she also suffered significant emotional injury as a result.
Lauifi was arrested several weeks later and now faces charges of felony child abuse. However, the focus of the lawsuit is not solely on the individual responsible for the attack. The family’s attorney argues that McDonald’s failed in their duty to provide a safe environment for their customers.
According to Jaramilla, the attack was unprovoked, and Lauifi had been displaying aggressive behavior towards other patrons in the crowded restaurant. The lawsuit, which is expected to be filed on Monday, seeks unspecified damages for the traumatic incident.
“No one in this community, especially children, should have to worry about going into McDonald’s and being beaten,” stated Jaramilla during a news conference held in front of the McDonald’s location where the incident occurred. The attorney emphasized the need for justice and accountability in ensuring the safety of patrons, particularly young children.
At the news conference, a large color photo of Kassidy’s injured face was displayed, drawing attention to the severity of the attack. The young victim and her mother, Angelina Gray, were in attendance, expressing their heartbreak and hope for justice to be served.
The pending lawsuit against McDonald’s raises important questions about the responsibility of businesses to ensure the safety of their customers. Establishments such as fast-food restaurants must prioritize security measures to prevent incidents of violence and protect those who frequent their establishments.
It is crucial that this incident serves as a reminder of the duty owed to customers, especially vulnerable individuals such as children, and the importance of taking swift and appropriate action to prevent such acts of violence.
McDonald’s has yet to comment on the pending litigation, but it is hoped that this case will lead to improved safety protocols and a commitment to creating a secure environment for all patrons.
