Tragedy struck on U.S. Highway 101 in Petaluma when a collision claimed the life of a 90-year-old woman. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when her car collided with the rear end of another vehicle. Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the collision took place on the northbound lanes of Highway 101, south of East Washington Street. The CHP investigators concluded that the woman from Cotati was driving a Honda CR-V behind a Range Rover. The Range Rover was moving at a slow speed due to stop-and-go traffic, while the Honda was traveling at an unsafe speed given the traffic conditions. As a result, the Honda rammed into the back of the Range Rover.
