Tragic Wrong-Way Crash Claims Lives of 5-Year-Old and Grandmother in Van Nuys

A violent head-on collision in Van Nuys has led to the loss of two family members, leaving a family devastated and seeking support from the community. The tragic accident, which occurred on June 29, claimed the lives of 5-year-old Yeshua and his grandmother, 74-year-old Aura De La Cruz Calderón de Tobar.

The family was on their way to dinner when a driver of a white Honda Accord veered into oncoming traffic and collided with the family’s car. The grandmother was declared dead at the scene, while Yeshua, rushed to the hospital, was later pronounced dead.

The wrong-way driver, identified only as a man in his 30s, sustained critical injuries, and his passenger, a woman in her 30s, suffered moderate injuries. It is believed by the family’s attorney that the driver may have been under the influence at the time of the crash, though the investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to assist the family with funeral expenses. This heartbreaking incident is a stark reminder of the devastating impacts of reckless driving and the importance of adherence to traffic rules for the safety of all road users.
