Adam Schiff Spotlights Farmworker Conditions in Half Moon Bay Visit

Rep. Adam Schiff was present in Half Moon Bay on Thursday for a roundtable discussion aimed at highlighting the conditions faced by farmworkers in the area. The event was organized by the nonprofit ALAS and enabled Schiff to hear from survivors of the deadly mass shootings that occurred at the mushroom farms earlier this year.

In addition to the roundtable, Schiff took a tour of the San Mateo County coast to understand the impacts of climate change on the region, as reported by the Half Moon Bay Review. The California Senatorial candidate also reportedly journeyed to Pacifica to assess the damage caused by winter storms in January, which included a damaged pier and vulnerable seawalls and streets.

Schiff expressed to the HMB Review, “We need to find ways to live without burning fossil fuels.”

Schiff, reflecting on his ability to work with Republicans who have attacked him in Congress, said, “You have to compartmentalize.”

In the race for fundraising for Dianne Feinstein’s Senate seat, Schiff has so far outpaced his two main competitors. According to the Los Angeles Times, Schiff, a Monte Vista High School graduate from Danville, raised $8.2 million in the second quarter of this year, approximately double the combined total raised by his two main rivals, Orange County Rep. Katie Porter and East Bay Rep. Barbara Lee.
