Roundtable Discussion at Farm

Adam Schiff Visits Half Moon Bay to Address Farmworker Conditions

Rep. Adam Schiff visited Half Moon Bay on Thursday to attend a roundtable discussion focusing on the conditions faced by farmworkers in the region. The event was hosted by the nonprofit ALAS, and Schiff listened to accounts from survivors of the deadly mass shootings at mushroom farms earlier this year.

In addition to the roundtable discussion, Schiff toured the San Mateo County coast to understand more about the impacts of climate change on the region. He reportedly traveled to Pacifica to survey the damage from the winter storms that occurred in January, which included a damaged pier and vulnerable seawalls and streets.

Schiff, in his conversation with the Half Moon Bay Review, stressed the need for ways to live without relying on fossil fuels. The California Senatorial candidate also spoke about his ability to work across the aisle, regardless of the political targeting he has faced from Republicans in Congress.

In relation to campaign fundraising, Schiff has currently outperformed his two main rivals in the race for Senator Dianne Feinstein’s Senate seat. Schiff, a Monte Vista High School graduate, has raised $8.2 million in the second quarter of this year, approximately double the combined total raised by Orange County Rep. Katie Porter and East Bay Rep. Barbara Lee.
