In light of numerous incidents involving BB gun assaults, the Alameda Police Department is advising parents to caution their children against engaging in perilous social media trends. These incidents, which have been occurring since late July, typically happen during the afternoon and early evening hours.
According to the police, the victims targeted by the BB gun attacks were not gravely injured. However, other law enforcement agencies have reported more serious injuries, such as eye injuries caused by pellets.
Authorities believe these BB gun shootings are linked to a social media trend that encourages individuals to randomly target strangers. In some cases, the BB guns were modified to resemble real firearms. The Alameda Police Department is urging vigilance and awareness to counter this harmful trend.
