An individual has been arrested in connection with a homicide that took place last month near the Oakland Embarcadero, according to the Oakland Police Department (OPD). Victor Sledge has been taken into custody for the murder of Nicole Marcy, which occurred on July 19 in the 1200 block of 18th Avenue.
OPD officers initially responded to the incident at approximately 5 p.m. on July 19, finding an individual on the scene with an apparent gunshot wound. Despite the provision of medical attention, the victim was declared deceased at the scene. A short while later, another individual arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds.
A subsequent investigation was initiated by the OPD Homicide Section. In collaboration with the Violent Crimes Operation Center and the US Marshals, Sledge was safely apprehended, as announced by the police on Tuesday.
Sledge has been charged by the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office with several offenses, including murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and violation of probation.
The arrest underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to solving violent crimes and bringing perpetrators to justice.
