Car Crash into Homeless Encampment Injures Five in Palms

A car flew over a freeway embankment and crashed into a homeless encampment in the Palms neighborhood of Los Angeles on Wednesday early morning, resulting in five injuries.

The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m. on the westbound side of the 10 Freeway near Palms Boulevard. The cause of the vehicle veering over the embankment has not been determined.

Los Angeles Fire Department officials confirmed that three patients had to be extricated from the vehicle and were transported to the hospital in serious condition. Two additional patients were taken to the hospital in fair condition. The identities of the victims have not been released.

The incident is currently under investigation.
