An automobile crashed into a tree on Wednesday afternoon in Piedmont, leading to a road closure, reported the Piedmont Police Department in a Facebook post. The incident occurred on Grand Avenue between Arroyo and Lower Grand Avenue.
According to the police, a white four-door sedan crossed over the double yellow lines and veered into oncoming traffic around 4:45 p.m. The vehicle’s engine subsequently caught fire. The Piedmont Fire Department crews responded promptly, using a hydraulic rescue tool to extricate the driver from the vehicle. Police have not reported any injuries suffered by the driver at this time.
The road closure resulting from the incident is expected to last until approximately 7 p.m.
