James Ramirez, a 35-year-old dirt bike rider, was apprehended after colliding with a patrol car during a haphazard pursuit on Tuesday night in Hesperia. The incident was reported by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Officers initially noticed several individuals riding dirt bikes near Seventh Avenue and Walnut Avenue around 10:11 p.m. When deputies tried to pull the riders over, Ramirez reportedly ignored the emergency sirens and initiated a pursuit, reaching speeds of approximately 45 miles per hour. He even crashed into a patrol car during the chase but managed to regain control of his bike and escape.
Ramirez’s reckless behavior continued throughout the pursuit, with him driving on the wrong side of the road, speeding through stop signs, racing through alleyways, and riding on sidewalks.
Ultimately, Ramirez was apprehended and arrested. He was taken to the High Desert Detention Center and booked for evading a police officer with disregard for safety.
