‘Doomsday Mom’ Lori Vallow Daybell Receives Five Life Sentences

Lori Vallow Daybell, the woman notoriously dubbed the ‘Doomsday mom,’ was sentenced to five life sentences without the possibility of parole on Monday. This sentencing concludes nearly four years of investigation and trial.

The 49-year-old Daybell was found guilty of murder and conspiracy to commit murder of her children, Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 16. Additionally, she was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder related to the death of Tammy Daybell, the former wife of her husband, Chad Daybell, and of grand theft.

The case, which garnered national attention, began in 2018 when Lori and Chad met at a religious conference. Following a series of grim events, including the deaths of Lori’s husband Charles Vallow and Chad’s wife Tammy Daybell, Lori’s two children mysteriously disappeared.

While investigators searched for the children, Lori and Chad fled to Hawaii to get married. In February 2020, Lori was arrested on charges of desertion and nonsupport of dependent children. The remains of Tylee and JJ were later found buried on Chad’s property.

In April 2023, Lori was found guilty on all charges and was sentenced to life in prison on all counts. Her husband Chad is set to face his charges in April 2024. The sentencing of Lori Daybell marks a significant milestone in a case that has shocked and saddened the nation.
