Driver Struck and Killed After Fleeing Crash on 405 Freeway

In a tragic accident, a motorist lost their life on the 405 Freeway in Long Beach early Monday morning after they were struck by multiple vehicles.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that officials first received calls about the crash on the southbound span of the 405 near Pacific Avenue shortly after midnight. The driver, who has not yet been identified, lost control and crashed their vehicle before fleeing on foot.

After exiting their vehicle, the driver jumped over the center divider and was subsequently struck by several other vehicles. The motorist’s body was found in the northbound lanes of the freeway and was pronounced dead at the scene.

None of the drivers involved in the incident sustained any injuries. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the initial crash.
