FBI Offers Reward in 20-Year-Old Kidnapping Case of LA Boy in Mexico City

In a bid to solve a 20-year-old kidnapping case, the FBI is offering a $20,000 reward for any information that may lead to the discovery of Joshua Keshaba Sierra Garcia. Garcia, a Los Angeles boy, was kidnapped in Mexico City just months before his third birthday on August 12, 2003.

Garcia was in Mexico City with his relatives for his baptism when he was last seen around 11 a.m., wearing a grey sweatshirt, blue shorts, and sandals. During the kidnapping, Garcia’s babysitter was killed. Despite a series of ransom calls, a money drop, and the arrest of a suspect by Mexican law enforcement, Garcia was not returned and remains missing.

The FBI has released original and age-progressed photos and sketches of Garcia. At the time of his disappearance, Garcia was 3 feet tall, weighing about 25 to 28 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, and pierced ears. The FBI’s reward is for information leading to Garcia’s recovery, regardless of whether he is found alive or deceased.

This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies like the FBI to solve long-standing cases and bring closure to victims’ families. The public can assist by providing any relevant information to the FBI’s L.A. field office or submitting anonymous tips online.
