Forklift Chase in Downtown Los Angeles Leads to Arrest

In a bizarre incident in downtown Los Angeles, a suspect was arrested after leading police on a brief chase in an allegedly stolen large capacity forklift and crashing into several buildings. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the incident to KTLA.

Authorities were alerted about the unusual theft at around 6:53 p.m. on August 1. A person reported that they were following someone who was driving a stolen forklift near the intersection of West 8th Street and South Broadway.

Footage of the incident acquired by KTLA showed the massive forklift veering off the sidewalk on South Broadway and onto a bustling street. The forklift was then seen driving down West 8th Street and making a right turn onto South Hill Street.

The driver of the stolen forklift reportedly crashed once, but managed to recover and continue before crashing a second time. The suspect was apprehended by the LAPD around 7 p.m.

Authorities have not provided any information regarding the identity or gender of the suspect. They also did not disclose which buildings the driver crashed into or who the rightful owner of the forklift is.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of this unusual pursuit. The incident highlights the range of theft cases law enforcement officers are tasked with resolving, sometimes involving unconventional vehicles.
