Highland Fire in Riverside County: Containment Grows to 50%
Riverside County, CA – The Highland Fire in Riverside County continues to burn, but there is some positive news as containment has increased to 50%, up from 15% just a few days ago. Cal Fire announced Friday morning that the fire behavior has been minimal, and there has been no fire growth overnight.
Although the steep and rugged terrain remains a challenge for firefighters, weather conditions are expected to be slightly more favorable today. Firefighters will continue to build containment lines around the fire perimeter and focus on cooling hot spots.
The fire, which has already consumed nearly 2,500 acres near Aguanga, has resulted in the destruction of 10 structures and damage to six others. Additionally, around 1,500 structures remain threatened by the ongoing fire.
While two firefighters have been injured, luckily, no civilian injuries have been reported thus far.
