Last month’s tragic hit-and-run incident, which involved a street race and resulted in the death of a 20-year-old musician, has led to the arrest of two suspects. The fatal crash happened in the Historic South-Central neighborhood of South Los Angeles.
The incident occurred on July 21 near the intersection of West 33rd Street and South Hill Street, where a crowd was leaving a rock show during intermission. According to Los Angeles Police Department Detective DeHesa, a Jaguar and a Challenger were racing when the Jaguar struck a pedestrian, instantly killing her.
The victim, identified by her family as Anna Michelle Solis, had just finished her performance and was walking to her car carrying her guitar and amp when she was hit. Lazaro Sandoval, who was also crossing the road at the time, reported that the driver who hit Solis paused briefly before fleeing the scene.
The suspects fled the scene, but they were later identified and arrested. More details about the arrest, including the identities of the suspects, are expected to be released.
A GoFundMe page has been established to help Solis’ family with funeral expenses. Family members remember Solis as a “beautiful soul,” and the loss has left a profound impact on the community. This tragic event underscores the grave risks associated with reckless driving and street racing, and it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety.
