Zachery Ty Bryan, an actor familiar to many for his role as Brad Taylor in the popular ’90s sitcom “Home Improvement,” was arrested in Lane County, Oregon on July 31. Bryan faces charges relating to domestic violence, robbery, and harassment, according to court documents.
Details of the case have not been widely disclosed. However, the documents filed by the Lane County District Attorney’s Office indicate that Bryan is accused of recklessly causing physical injury to an unnamed victim, and it is alleged that this crime constituted domestic violence.
As of Monday, Bryan was reportedly still in custody. This is not the actor’s first encounter with the law. In October 2020, Bryan was arrested in Lane County on charges of assault, menacing, harassment, coercion, strangulation, and interference with making a report following a dispute with his girlfriend. Although most of these charges were later dropped, Bryan pled guilty to charges of assault and menacing in 2021. He was subsequently sentenced to 36 months of probation and fined $200.
Being on parole for his previous conviction, Bryan is due for a pre-trial conference hearing at the Lane County Courthouse on September 5.
Bryan’s acting career has been largely dormant since 2009, with his most recent credited role being in the TV series “The Guardians of Justice” in 2022. The case involving Bryan underscores the serious legal and personal consequences of domestic violence and related offenses.
