Mia Cota, Taylor’s mother, expressed her desire for justice, highlighting the pain of losing her child and the devastating consequences for so many lives affected by reckless driving. The family seeks closure and accountability for the untimely and brutal end to Taylor’s life. Unfortunately, Taylor’s case is not an isolated incident. Bibiana Retana Sosa, a 66-year-old woman, was hit and killed in a crosswalk just down the street from where Taylor lost her life. The driver responsible for this tragedy did not stop, leaving a grieving family and a community shaken. Glen Brown, a resident in the neighborhood, shared his concern about the lack of accountability and empathy displayed by some drivers involved in accidents. In Malibu, a shrine of remembrance has been created using ghost tires to represent the 58 people who have been hit and killed on a dangerous 21-mile stretch of Pacific Coast Highway since 2010. Among the lives lost are four Pepperdine students who were killed in a recent crash caused by a speeding driver.
