Human remains were discovered on Thursday in Alameda on the shore near the Bay Farm Island Bridge, according to the Alameda Police Department. The police were responding to a call about an unidentified object spotted on the shoreline around 3:30 p.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers confirmed the object to be human remains. Investigators from the Alameda Police Department and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau were then brought to the scene to commence investigations.
Due to the nature of the ongoing investigation, the authorities stated that they are unable to release further details at this time. The Alameda Police Department has urged anyone with information that could aid the investigation to get in touch.
This discovery comes after skeletal remains were found in a University of California, Berkeley building in January. Those remains were recently identified, and the death has been ruled a homicide.
