Police in Irvine are on the lookout for a man captured on surveillance cameras allegedly stealing a wallet from a shopper’s bag in a grocery store.
Surveillance footage from the July 29 incident shows the man seemingly tailing the victim around the store, paying close attention to an open bag in the victim’s cart. When the victim turns to select an item from the freezer section, the man appears to take something from the bag before moving out of camera view.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his thirties with black hair. He stands approximately 5 foot 9 inches tall and weighs around 170 pounds. The surveillance footage shows him wearing a black hat and shorts, a gray tank top, and a fanny pack.
Authorities have taken this opportunity to remind shoppers to always keep a close eye on their belongings while shopping to prevent such incidents.
