The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is requesting public assistance in identifying a 10-year-old boy who was severely injured in a traffic collision in the Wilshire Center neighborhood.
The incident took place around 5 p.m. Thursday evening when the unidentified boy was riding a rented scooter and collided with a vehicle at the intersection of Vermont Avenue and 7th Street.
The boy was rushed to a hospital by the Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics and remains in critical condition.
According to the LAPD, a review of the juvenile’s phone revealed Cyrillic alphabet writing, suggesting he might be of Russian descent. Due to his age, he had no identification and no fingerprints on file that could aid in his identification.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision stayed on the scene and is cooperating with authorities. The LAPD does not suspect any foul play.
Anyone with information about the collision is urged to contact the LAPD. This incident highlights the potential dangers of traffic accidents, particularly for vulnerable road users like children, and the importance of public assistance in such situations.
